The server-rack fire suppression unit is an innovative automatic fire suppression product independently developed by our company. It is an automatic fire suppression device specially developed for equipment cabinets. The unit is also known as a temperature-sensing detection and fire-extinguishing integrated machine, or a prefabricated fire-extinguishing device. It is a fire-extinguishing device that pre-assembles the fire-extinguishing agent storage device, transmission pipeline, nozzle, shell, pressure indicator, fire detector, and signal feedback device into an independent fire-extinguishing unit. The server-rack fire suppression unit is suitable for all kinds of independent equipment cabinets, and one set of fire-extinguishing device can protect one or more equipment cabinets.

The fire-extinguishing agent used in this device can be HFC-227EA (also called FM200) or FK-5-1-12 (also called Novec1230). Both FM200 and Novec1230 are clean gas fire-extinguishing agents used mainly for chemical fire extinguishing and also for physical fire extinguishing. They are colorless, tasteless, low-toxicity, non-conductive, and non-polluting to protected objects, and will not cause damage to property or precision facilities. They feature a lower fire-extinguishing concentration and reliably extinguish Class B, Class C, and electrical fires. There are two kinds of fire detectors in this device: one is a temperature-sensing glass ball, and the other is a fire-detecting tube. It does not require the traditional fire detection system composed of smoke, temperature, and fire controller to realize fire detection. Our products can better perform the detection and fire-extinguishing function, better adapt to equipment cabinet installation, save more space, and have no impact on the components of the equipment cabinet.

The server-rack fire suppression unit has two temperature-sensing starting modes: a temperature-sensing glass ball and a fire-detecting tube.

When the ambient temperature of the protected area reaches the temperature set by the temperature-sensitive glass ball (68 °C, which can also be selected according to customer requirements), the glass ball bursts immediately, instantly opening the fire media release pipe. The gas extinguishing agent stored in the device is then immediately ejected from the nozzle to cool the protected area and extinguish the fire.

The other starting mode uses the fire-detecting tube as a fire detector. When the fire-detecting tube senses the fire signal at the point of origin (160 °C ± 10 °C), the gas inside the tube expands rapidly. Finally, a nozzle is blasted out at the highest-temperature point of the tube, and the storage device of the fire-extinguishing agent is opened. The fire-detecting tube then sprays from the blasting port to achieve cooling and extinguishing.

1. Temperature setting value of the temperature-sensing glass ball: 68 °C (the temperature can also be selected according to customer requirements).
2. Temperature setting value of the fire-detecting tube: 160 °C ± 10 °C.
3. No power supply is required for activation.
4. The product series is complete, installation is flexible and convenient, and operation is accurate.
5. It offers reliability, convenient operation and maintenance, no need to design a separate cylinder room, and lower project investment.
6. It is a fire suppression unit with independent fire detection and extinguishing functions.

The action program follows the temperature-sensing and fire-detecting tube activation sequence described in the Working Principle section above, from detection through agent release and extinguishing.

Refer to the installation mimic diagrams provided with the unit for the drawer-type mounting arrangement, the temperature-sensing release assembly, and the routing of the fire-detecting tube inside the cabinet.

As shown in the mimic diagrams above, the FM200 server-rack fire suppression unit can be installed in several ways. Install the FM200 fire-extinguishing device into the cabinet in the form of a drawer and fix it in place. The installation arrangement of the temperature-sensing release assembly and fire-detecting tubes is as shown in the mimic diagrams. The temperature-sensing release assembly can be fixed to the server rack using the relevant accessories; the fire-detecting tubes are arranged in an "S" type and fixed with ties, following the principle of routing through fire-prone locations as far as possible.

The installation and debugging personnel should be familiar with the basic structure, working principle, performance, and action program of the device, as well as the structure and working state of the valve parts.

When installing the device, avoid direct sunlight and stay away from heat sources. Ensure that the device is not subjected to vibration impact. The device is fixed in the protected area through the bracket.

1. Selection of installation location: Select a U-shaped space suitable for installation in the upper area inside the server rack. The selection of area should be based on the principle of convenient daily inspection and installation of the fire-extinguishing device, and areas with numerous wiring harnesses should be avoided as far as possible.
2. Fixing the device: Use the guide rail or tray of the cabinet to fix the device, and secure the two screw holes on the front panel of the device with screws. After the fixing is complete, the main engine is installed.

1. Device interfaces: The device has several interfaces: copper pipe interface, switch, pressure gauge, pressure switch, fire-detecting tube, temperature-sensing glass ball, and nozzle. The nozzle is set at the front of the panel of our units; the other interfaces are set at the rear.
2. Installation of the temperature-sensing glass ball and fire-detecting tube:
   • Temperature-sensing glass ball: The temperature-sensing glass balls are already fixed on the device and do not need to be installed separately.
   • Fire-detecting tube: Unscrew the plug of the throttle, insert the fire-detecting tube into the needle joint, and screw the copper cap until firm. Observe the space of the cabinet and choose the appropriate pipe arrangement. The principle of pipe arrangement is to make the fire-detecting tube cover the server rack to the maximum extent. Secondly, the fire-detecting tube should pass through the area where fire is most likely to occur. Finally, consider the aesthetics of the whole installation. The end of the fire-detecting tube is a standard plug. First, insert the plug with the threaded hole into the fire-detecting tube, then insert the other plug tightly into the fire-detecting tube. The two pieces are butted tog and then tightened.
3. Pressure switch interface: The pressure switch is connected to the system according to the marking requirements.

Specialized maintenance management personnel shall be arranged to maintain and manage the server-rack fire suppression unit, and maintenance and management activities shall be recorded. Maintenance management personnel are required to be familiar with the working principle and performance of the device.

• The pressure indicated value of the FM200 server-rack fire suppression unit shall be within the range of the green part.
• The switch of the container valve shall be in the "open" position.
• There should be no abnormality in the device.

• Parts of the device should be free from mechanical damage and surface corrosion; coating protection should be intact, and nameplate marks should be clear.
• Extinguishing agent containers, fire-detecting tubes, release tubes, and nozzles should be firmly and reliably connected.

The server-rack fire suppression unit shall be comprehensively inspected and maintained every year, meeting not only the weekly and quarterly requirements above but also the following:

• The weighing method is used to check the extinguishing dose of the device container. Requirement: extinguishing dose ≥ (container volume × 1.15 g/L) × 90%. Refill the fire-extinguishing agent if the requirement is not met.
• Observe the value of the pressure gauge and check wh the pressure of the server-rack fire suppression unit is leaking. When the pressure gauge is not within the range of the green part, the weighing method shall be used to check the fire-extinguishing dose. When the leakage of fire-extinguishing dose is more than 10%, the fire-extinguishing agent shall be refilled and the pressure supplemented.
• There should be no deformation, corrosion, damage, or aging of the fire-detecting tube.
• The maintenance and management of fire-extinguishing agent containers shall be carried out in accordance with the Safety Supervision Regulations for Gas Cylinders.
